MoonDrop Stellaris
A planar driver is a kind of transducer in which efficiency is traded for bandwidth. Its application in in-ear headphones is far less common than in full-size headphones, but its special timbre has attracted much favourable attention. We decided to apply this architecture to our existing starfield line, and create a planar in-ear headphone with excellent performance and a cost-effective price tag.
From among the many planar drivers on the market, we selected an outstanding driver with excellent nonlinear distortion performance and consistency, and exchanged high cost for more stable sound quality and lower distortion. With this in mind the acoustic structure of the driver has been carefully modified, and by attaching an independent built-in acoustic cavity to accurately control the resonant frequency of the system, linear distortion performance has been optimized, creating a more natural timbre.
The fully symmetrical magnetic circuit is composed of 7+7 N52H magnets, precisely arrayed during mold assembly, delivering lower harmonic distortion and higher magnetic circuit efficiency, and producing a maximum magnetic flux at the magnetic gap close to 1 Tesla, resulting in clearer sound quality.
The driver of the Stellaris utilizes a sub-nanometer diaphragm with a thickness of 1um, stretched tightly on the backet at uniform tension. The vibration of the diaphragm generates ampere power to drive vibration and sound through a snake shaped circuit with an accuracy of up to 2um and a magnetic field parallel to the diaphragm. This high-precision ultra-thin, uniformly stressed diaphragm structure can deliver lower split vibration and nonlinear distortion in the vibration process, generate a more transparent and melodious timbre with clearer details.
